MC1135399 - Reporting labels retirement in Teams admin center
Message Center ID: MC1135399
What is changing
Starting September 15, 2025 the Reporting Labels page in Teams Admin Center will be retired and replaced by a new unified upload page. The single page consolidates building and endpoint uploads used by Call Analytics and the Call Quality Dashboard (CQD), removing the need to maintain separate inputs for each tool.
Who is affected
- Teams admins and network/telephony admins who manage building and endpoint data for reporting.
- Organizations using CQD or Call Analytics for call quality reporting and troubleshooting.
- GCC tenants and worldwide tenants: rollout begins early September 2025 and completes by mid-September 2025. MSIT deployment begins June 2025.
Why it matters for admins
This change reduces duplication and simplifies data management:
- Single source of truth for building and endpoint data improves consistency in call reports.
- Less maintenance overhead: no separate Reporting Labels files to keep in sync with CQD.
- Operational impacts for automation, scripts, and documentation that reference the old Reporting Labels workflow.
Action checklist for admins
- If you already use the CQD upload feature: no action required. Existing files will appear in the new upload page.
- If you use Reporting Labels but not CQD: prepare an updated building/endpoint file now and be ready to upload to CQD when the unified page is live.
- Test uploads and validate that Call Analytics and CQD reports reflect tenant metadata correctly.
- Update any automation, scripts, runbooks, and internal docs to point to the new Teams Admin Center upload page.
- Communicate the change to stakeholders and schedule a short validation after mid-September rollout.
In my experience, making the file and test updates before rollout avoids last-minute troubleshooting. Review internal compliance as needed, although Microsoft noted no specific compliance concerns.
